It's All Mine

"I always loved drawing and spent much of my spare time growing up drawing pictures of my family, my dogs and general scenes of things around me. I had a slight obsession with Toni Braxton and would draw my mum and her friends with the cut out waist dress from the 'Unbreak My Heart’ video- perhaps kismet I went on to have a career in Fashion. Even though I loved being creative, my school reports often commented on my lack of confidence and I think especially due to my working-class upbringing, I was heavily discouraged from pursuing art subjects as viable career options at school. It has brought me great joy to read how much the young girls partaking in the ‘Girls Like Us’ project enjoy creating art and I think it is such an important outlet that needs to be nourished, encouraged and also taken seriously as a potential future career."
